Service in the HOOD!!! (Detroit)- August 8, 2016

Hey everyone! This last week has been great! Monday was our last District meeting/ District activity for the transfer. It was great! We played Frisbee and basketball. Then we made really big bubbles.
Tuesday was really hard to say good bye to Sister Estioko, but that is life in the mission. Always moving around and getting new companions. My new companion is Sister Howard. She is great! She is from California.
Sister Howard and I have seen so many miracles. It is amazing!
On Tuesday we met with a Potential investigator, Janice. It ended up being a meeting with her and her Pastor. That was fun! He was pretty much telling us that we were wrong and that we were going to HELL. He was trying to argue with us but we just simply told him we are not here to argue and then we testified of the Truth. Then we left. It was a fun first day for Sister Howard.
Wednesday we went and saw Sister Delossantos, s
he is a Less Active. We talked about the Plan of Salvation. We mostly focused on our life on earth and also the atonement. She has been through a lot but know the Gospel is true and is trying to come back. We also were able to meet 2 potentials named Eva and Evita. They are in the Flint area so we talked with them and sent in the referral. They want to learn about the Book of Mormon.
We then met with Sister Schopper on Friday, We talked about her receiving a patriarchal blessing and she is excited for one. It was a great lesson. She is one the road to going to the temple.
Saturday was so great helping with the service. Our mission participated in a service project for Detroit. We all went to Detroit to help them clean up 300 neighbor hoods. It was so great. We helped clean yards, trim trees, rake yards, and weed their gardens and yards. It was great to help out in the community. We also met a lady named Monica. She was the mail lady and she was super nice and interested in Learning more about the Book of Mormon and how she can raise her family better.
Yesterday we were able to see tons of miracles and we were able to find a new investigator. Her name is Debra. She is Catholic but she is interested in learning about the Book of Mormon. We are excited to go and teach her.  In studies I have been focusing on the Finding chapter and have been reading a lot about teach when you find and find when you teach. We are also using the How to begin teaching points as door approaches. It has been great.

Well have a great week! I love you all!
