May 30, 2016- Hot Hot Hot

Hey Everyone, This week has been great but very hot and humid. The summer has finally hit Michigan!

Our week was really good. We First met with our investigator Robyn Ames. We talked with her about always trying and never giving up. we read the talk " Tomorrow the Lord will do Wonders Among You."it is a great talk that helped her with always trying and getting back on the right path. We also talked with her about praying and fasting. She is having some family issues and wants to know how to help and make things right.

Then we met with a few Less Actives. First we met with Sister Schopper, we talked with her about priorities and making the things from God first in their life and then God will bless us. They really enjoyed the Activity we did with them. They are a cute family that we are helping to strengthen their testimonies in Christ.

Then we met with Sister Clara Rose. This was our first time meeting with her. She is set in where she is at but we talked to her about prayer and how we need to pray and ask God for help. She enjoyed the visit. We are going to keep working with her and trying to bring her back to the church.

We then helped Sister Mickel with some service. we helped her with her garden. we helped her weed and then put some mulch on. we talked to her about going to the temple. She is excited to go in July. Other then that is was a great week of finding. We found a couple new potentials that we are going to try this next week.

Well I hope you all have a great Memorial Day!

Love you all! Sister Alisha Carol Betts

May 23, 2016- Faith= Miracles!!!

Hey Everyone! This last week has been great!

We started this week by finding 2 new investigators. We found Nicole by tracting. She is not religious but wants to grow closer to God. We went over there yesterday and taught her about the Restoration. She finds it very interesting. We invited her to pray and ask God if he is there and to know what we taught her is true. It was a great lesson. She really wants to find a church for her children to learn about Jesus Christ and grow in the faith.

We also were able to start teaching Mary-Tim Bruton's mom. We went over there and talked about the Restoration. She had some questions but we were able to answer them. We showed the Restoration Video and they really liked it. She told us that she could see her self joining the church and being baptized. We are excited to put her on date for baptism.

Tim Bruton-RC is doing great. He is helping us teach his mom the lessons. It is great. He bore his testimony of the church being true and how he knows that it is the only true church. It was amazing to hear him testify.

This week we also went and saw Robyn Ames. She is doing good. She is reading and praying. We talked about the talk from Conference called" The Healing Ointment of Forgiveness." This was a great talk for her. She talked to us about how it is hard to forgive herself for the things she has done. We talked about how we need to rely on the Lord and he will help us.

Then we met with Sister Delossantos-LA. She is having a hard time right know but we talked to her about Patriarchal blessings. This lesson was different then when we discussed it before. The member we had with us bore a strong testimony of receiving a blessing and how it can help her in her life. She is meeting with the Bishop this week to set up a date to receive one.

I am doing great! I am loving the Weather and love finding God children and teaching them the Gospel. In studies I have been reading in the Preach my Gospel. I am learning about Christlike Attributes. I am studying Hope . I have learned so much about it and how faith plays a role in it. I have learned to have hope for things and faith that God does provide. I have seen it again and again on my mission.

This week we also celebrated Sister Estioko's 1 Year mark! It was great! We had Pizza and Sparkling Cider.

Well I hope you all have a great week!

Love Sister Alisha Carol Betts

May 16, 2016- Tim’s Baptism

Hey Everyone! This week was so great! We have had a lot of rain and then on Sunday it snowed! The weather is so crazy! luckily it didn't stay!

We finished teaching Tim the Lessons and then Tim got baptized! President and Sister Gerber came to the baptism and they are great support. Tim was so happy and had a glow to him. He truly has a testimony of the church and a desire to follow Christ. The baptism was so spiritual and everyone was so happy and supportive of Tim. Tim's mom (Mary) really felt the spirit! Mary told us that she felt it as he was getting baptized. On Sunday, Tim was confirmed and received the Holy Ghost. She also came to his confirmation on Sunday! Mary had a really good time at church and felt the spirit. She now wants to investigate the church! She never had an interest in learning but after the baptism and church she wants to learn more/ She said she has a lot of questions but we are going to start meeting with her and teaching her. It is a miracle from God. The Gospel blesses families.

We also met with a Less Active Sister Delossantos! She is doing really good. She is busy with the kids and stuff but we talked to her about the Temple. She is really wanting to go back. We talked to her also about Family History and showed her how to do it. We set up her account and she was able to find her father. It made her really happy.

We were also able to find several potential investigators this week. We are going to go see them this next week.

We also had Specialized Training and it was great. President Gerber talked about focusing on our missionary purpose. It made me refocus on my mission and learn how to find meaning in our purpose.

Ponderizing Scripture: this week I have been ponderizing John 17:3. It talks about knowing the only true God!

Well I hope you all have a great week and thanks so much for all your Support!

The Coy Family. They are having some problems but we were able to talk to them about faith. We related it to Basketball. It was great.
Then we met with our investigator Robyn Ames. We talked with her about the talk from General Conference from President Erying about listening and praying for the spirit to guide us. She really enjoyed his talk. We talked about praying and listening to the promptings of the spirit each day.
We also met with Sister Delossantos and talked with her about the Temple. She is very excited about going and preforming the ordinances for her family. We will be talking with her about Family History this next week and setting her up with the Family History Consultant. It will be great.     On Sunday we had a great Mothers Day program. It was great. Then there was a baptism in our ward. The little boy was so cute. After we were able to Skype home. It was great to see everyone.
In Studies I have been studying Christlike Attributes. This week I have been learning about Humility. I really got into it. I learned a lot about being Humble and relying on the Lord for help. I learned to Trust in God and he will provide a way. I invite you all to look at the Christlike Attributes and work on 1 each way. It will bring us closer to our Savior Jesus Christ.

Rain, Rain, Rain!! - May 2, 2016

Hey Everyone, I hope you are all doing great!

This week has been great, but rainy! It has rained most of the week!
We started out by meeting with 2 of our Less Actives. We met with Sister Delossantos this week. We talked with her about receiving a Patriarchal Blessing. She was really nervous to get one because she heard of a bad experience when she was a kid, but we were able to talk with her and help her understand why it is so important. She is excited now to get one and she is preparing to receive one. We also met with the Holscher family. We read the Bible with them. We talked about the Creation and Adam and Eve. They really were involved in the lesson and wants to continue to read it as a family.
We did a lot of finding this week and met a couple new potentials we are doing to meet with this next week.
We also met with Tim Bruton. He is the one we have on date to be baptized on May 14. He is super excited. We talked about the Word of Wisdom and the Sabbath day. He really wants to keep all the commandments and is doing really good. The only problem is he is trying to get Sundays off of work. He just started a new Job and has to work every other Sunday. He is going to talk with his boss. He is also quitting smoking. He will be receiving a Priesthood blessing this week to help him.      Other then that he is doing great.  I am doing great, I love this area and me and Sister Estioko are doing great. We are working on our unity as a companionship and how we can better teach and testify.
This week I have been Pondering the scripture: John 10:16." And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd".
Well I hope you all have a great week! Happy Mothers Day to all you Mothers!

Love you all!!
